Provided the thermal insulation properties are not compromised, the applicant may request approval of a wetsuit with a thickness of below 3 mm (but at least 1 mm) in limited specific areas, if those features are functionally justified to permit freer movement by the swimmer. The Independent Swimwear Expert will determine the request in his/her sole discretion, and his/her decision is not subject to challenge.
