For Open Water Swimming competitions other than at the Olympic Games and World Aquatics Events, unless otherwise determined by the organiser prior to the event, the Chief Referee will determine (based on the number of entries) whether the men’s race and women’s race will start simultaneously or separately. Even if the men’s race and the women’s race start simultaneously, the official results and placings will be determined as separate races.
